6.6 OFFSETTING SOLID FACES

This command will offset solid faces. The Offset command is different compared with the Extrude command, because the Offset command can offset both planar and curved faces. If you input a positive offset distance, this means the volume will increase, but if you input a negative offset distance, this means the volume will decrease. To issue this command, go to the Home tab, locate the Solid Editing panel, select the Offset Faces button:

The following prompts will be shown:

Select faces or [Undo/Remove]:

Select faces or [Undo/Remove/ALL]:

Specify the offset distance:

Solid validation started.

Solid validation completed.

Make sure you are using the Face option in the Subobject panel to select face(s), or hold [Ctrl] before selecting desired face(s); then specify the offset distance. Finally press [Enter] twice to end the command.
